I finally have a couple videos posted up on YouTube that I created recently from songs off my new CD, “Get Moving and Singing with Silly Sally”. Since I am a YouTube newbie, I am still learning all the ins and outs of rankings, views and ratings. So, if you have a chance to comment on the videos, that would be great. Go to my YouTube website. Hard copies of the songs are available from my website: Silly Sally Productions
Check out the “Smile Song” video below which was made with the help of my nieces Rachel and Claire. They were in Iowa over Christmas and we had a fun time creating scenes for the video. Since I am also a certified laughter leader, this was a fun song to create on video. Everyone needs to laugh, smile and grin on a regular basis!
Enjoy and keep smiling! The Silly Sally CD release show will be January 17th at the Ames Public Library at 3:00 PM. Come and enjoy songs, puppets, door prizes and more. FREE admission!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you a very happy new year. I spent Christmas with my Mom and some other friends and we enjoyed a quiet time just relaxing. Other family members will be coming here soon so will enjoy the sounds of excited children once again. I also spent Christmas Eve day ringing the Salvation Army bell at a local grocery store. In addition to ringing the bell, I sang Christmas carols as folks rushed in and out of the store. It was fun to observe people’s reactions as some began singing along or smiled and others did not even seem to notice or care that an elf was singing as they entered the store. It is one of my goals in life to put smiles on faces as people just do not smile and laugh enough. So, getting into a costume and singing just seems as natural to me as breathing fresh air. Should you be interested in seeing me in a costume, I sing, dance and play along with many folks doing singing telegrams all year long. Just check out my website for more information: Silly Sally Singing Telegrams
One of the Christmas gifts I have enjoyed so far is a book by Terry Fator entitled, “Who’s the Dummy Now?” Some of you might remember Terry as the winner of America’s Got Talent a couple years ago. He is a ventriloquist so naturally I have enjoyed reading his accounts of his life and fulfilling his dream to be a full-time professional performer as this is certainly something I hope continue to strive towards. The book is a good read about his struggles growing up and how this helped him work harder to become the professional entertainer he is today.
Well, I wish you a very Happy New Year. I shall be working two gigs that day/night so will fill get you caught up in 2009. Blessings!
It’s finally here! My new “Get Moving and Singing with Silly Sally” CD has just been released and is ready for purchase. Imagine this, real clowns roaming the halls of capital hill. Have you seen the commercial that depicts the firefighters who are posing as congressmen/women? In this spot, the firefighters pass bills and laws quickly, efficiently and orderly. Would this not be wonderful if our politicians would work together like this to do what is right for Americans instead of arguing across party lines? To say the least, I get very frusterated as do most Americans. I have been a professional clown since 1997 and believe that laughter is so important in today’s society.
But, in stressful uneasy times a little laughter can really help. Saturday Night Live’s ratings are through the roof as they spoof our poiliticians. Just think if real clowns were allowed in the mix of candidates. We would be helping others to laugh and see the joy in our country instead of putting down our competitors. Our compationate approach to the issues would allow us to empethize with the public.
Well, we do not live a clown America. But, if you would like to bring some joy, stress relief or just a fun program to your business, corporation, church or civic group, check out Sally Shaver’s programs at Smile A While’s website.
I have been super busy in Iowa the last few weeks of summer. I performed at the Iowa State Fair, Wall Lake Farm Festival, at many birthday parties and have been busy taking my KangaKids FunBus to area daycare centers. In addition, I helped judge 4-H projects at the Iowa State Fair for several days. It sure was a pleasure to evaluate so many exhibits by young people from across Iowa as well as help kids who were performing in Share The Fun.(Talent Show) Summer is slowly coming to an end with the kids heading back to school this week and fall is just around the corner. If you would like to learn how you can have me come to your special event, birthday party, school or daycare center, be sure to check out my website: sillysallytheclown.com
Silly Sally and Giggles entertained kids of all ages with face painting, balloon twisting and with Silly Sally’s Jump A Roo bounce house for the City of Ames Electric Services open house. A huge crowd enjoyed touring the City of Ames Electric power plant eating a great lunch and receiving bucket rides by city employees. This annual event was held on a beautiful windy day and fun and educational opportunities were had by all who attended.

Silly Sally provided walk around entertainment, balloon twisting and set up her inflatable Jump A Roo bounce house at the recent employee picnic for the City of Ames. Adults and kids enjoyed laughing with Silly Sally and the children jumped for fun in the Jump A Roo as well as watched Silly Sally twist up balloon creations. Great BBQ food was served up for all by legendary Hickory Park restaraunt from Ames.

New FIT Kids act is a winner! Silly Sally highly recommends the new bill H.R. 3257 that has been proposed and will be presented to Congress. As a certified K-12 physical education and health teacher, Sally Shaver aka Silly Sally has long questioned the lack of physical education requirements in the original No Child Left Behind legislation. With a childhood obesity epidemic in full swing, children need quality, daily physical activity and schools need to put PE back into their required courses and help students learn about other healthy habits including nutrition. This new bill could be nicknamed, “No Child Left On Their Behind.”
Iowa is one of the few states that requires some kind of PE at 50 minutes per week at the secondary level. But even with this requirement, many students are still not getting the needed and recommended daily physical activity. Sally also believes that PE teachers and schools should be held accountable for providing high-quality PE by following national benchmarks and standards created by NASPE.
The KangaKids FunBus is available to come to central Iowa preschools and daycare centers and provides quality physical education classes for young children. Kids love to participate in the numerous activities including tumbling and gymnastics , beginning sports skills, creative movement and dance and even ride on the zipline.
Silly Sally has also created several products and programs to help children become more physically active and encourage healthy, active lifestyles. She is in the process of creating her latest CD, “Get Moving with Silly Sally” which should be released this fall. Check out Silly Sally’s website for more information on how you can purchase a CD or video or have Silly Sally visit your school or community to help kids learn about staying fit and healthy.
