Vote for me. Send a real clown to Washington

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Imagine this, real clowns roaming the halls of capital hill. Have you seen the commercial that depicts the firefighters who are posing as congressmen/women? In this spot, the firefighters pass bills and laws quickly, efficiently and orderly. Would this not be wonderful if our politicians would work together like this to do what is right for Americans instead of arguing across party lines? To say the least, I get very frusterated as do most Americans.  I have been a professional clown since 1997 and believe that laughter is so important in today’s society.

But, in stressful uneasy times a little laughter can really help. Saturday Night Live’s ratings are through the roof as they spoof our poiliticians. Just think if real clowns were allowed in the mix of candidates. We would be helping others to laugh and see the joy in our country instead of putting down our competitors. Our compationate approach to the issues would allow us to empethize with the public.

Well, we do not live a clown America. But, if you would like to bring some joy, stress relief or just a fun program to your business, corporation, church or civic group, check out Sally Shaver’s programs at Smile A While’s website.

Iowa motivational speaker helps others laugh

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Sally Shaver helped the employees from the Carroll County Iowa Family Resource Center  to enjoy a day of laughter and learning in the tranquil setting of Hidden Acres Camp near Dayton, Iowa on October 8, 2007.   Participants learned about the health benefits of adding more laughter and humor into their workplace as Sally entertained and encouraged them with activities, magic, ventriloquism and laughter exercises.

The current research tells us that preschool children laugh on the average of 400 times per day while adults only chuckle about 15 times.  Laughter releases endorphins into the brain which gives us that “feel good” sensation, reduces blood pressure and can help to decrease depression.  Therefore, Sally is on a mission to help others of ALL ages to laugh through her presentations and with her professional clown character, Silly Sally.

Sally is a certified laughter leader through the World Laughter Tour and presents programs to groups for corporate trainings, teacher trainings, women’s retreats, community organizations and church groups.  Check out the Smile Awhile Presentations website to find out more about Sally’s programs.
