Check out the “Smile Song” video below which was made with the help of my nieces Rachel and Claire. They were in Iowa over Christmas and we had a fun time creating scenes for the video. Since I am also a certified laughter leader, this was a fun song to create on video. Everyone needs to laugh, smile and grin on a regular basis!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you a very happy new year. I spent Christmas with my Mom and some other friends and we enjoyed a quiet time just relaxing. Other family members will be coming here soon so will enjoy the sounds of excited children once again. I also spent Christmas Eve day ringing the Salvation Army bell at a local grocery store. In addition to ringing the bell, I sang Christmas carols as folks rushed in and out of the store. It was fun to observe people’s reactions as some began singing along or smiled and others did not even seem to notice or care that an elf was singing as they entered the store. It is one of my goals in life to put smiles on faces as people just do not smile and laugh enough. So, getting into a costume and singing just seems as natural to me as breathing fresh air. One of the Christmas gifts I have enjoyed so far is a book by Terry Fator entitled, “Who’s the Dummy Now?” Some of you might remember Terry as the winner of America’s Got Talent a couple years ago. He is a ventriloquist so naturally I have enjoyed reading his accounts of his life and fulfilling his dream to be a full-time professional performer as this is certainly something I hope continue to strive towards. The book is a good read about his struggles growing up and how this helped him work harder to become the professional entertainer he is today.

Get Moving and Singing with Silly Sally CD

It’s finally here! My new “Get Moving and Singing with Silly Sally” CD has just been released and is ready for purchase. Children and adults will enjoy an eclectic mix of styles of music from a polka, Irish folk song, tango, march to original songs that will be sure to have kids singing and moving along. This kids music project has been in the works for a couple years and was completed just a few weeks ago. But, in stressful uneasy times a little laughter can really help. Saturday Night Live’s ratings are through the roof as they spoof our poiliticians. Just think if real clowns were allowed in the mix of candidates. We would be helping others to laugh and see the joy in our country instead of putting down our competitors. Our compationate approach to the issues would allow us to empethize with the public.

Yesterday I had the priveledge of sharing God’s word at the Mingo United Methodist Church in Mingo, Iowa. Even though the crowd was small, God was moving in this congregation. It was a pleasure to share my clown ministry program utilizing my puppet Snowflake the polar bear, singing, magic and just plain fun with a crowd of kids of all ages. We laughed and we cried to celebrate rally Sunday which was the kick-off of the Sunday School season. Very often, real life is funnier than fiction. I received this photo from a friend today and thought it told a great story from right here in central Iowa. Life brings us lots of “gaps” along the way. Sometimes we bring these “gaps” upon ourselves like this fellow in the photo. He made a choice to ignore the “Road Closed” signs and fell into the “gap”. But, often times, “gaps” come and we have no control over them. We lose a job, expperience loss of a loved one, have children who make poor choices or just plain have a bad day. How do you respond? Do you laugh, cry, get angry? If you can try and look at the “gaps” as teachable moments and look at the humor they may present, you truly are adding years to your life. Can you imagine the insurance agent’s response on this call? As I present many of my health and humor programs, I remind participants that laughter really has lasting effects on our health even when those “gaps” come our way.
